Client-Server Socket Programming in Java


Hey geeks, today I would like to share about some networking concepts like socket programming in Java. We will see how to communicate between Server and Clients using core Java programming. Socket programming can be done in many langauges, basically it's done in C programming because C is a system programming langauge but in Java it's quite easier then the C programming. We can say, the magic in socket programming is that it's not necessary that your Server and Client both should be written in same langauges, it can be possible to write Server code in C programming and Client in Java programming and vice-versa. But there should be proper sycncronization and it's depends on the logic of programmer who is concern with the Application he/she is doing. Here I am considering that you guys have the basic knowledge of Socket programming and the methods used in it.

Wireshark: One Of The Best Open-Source Packet Analyzer

Wireshark is a free and open-source packet analyzer. It is used for network troubleshooting, analysis, software and communications protocol development, and education. It is the network analysis tool which is called as “Ethereal”. Wireshark captures packets in real time and displays them in human-readable format. Wireshark includes filters, color-coding and other features that let you dig deep into network traffic and inspect individual packets.

HACKER'(s) TOOL - ETTERCAP




 Learn Open Source Networking tool "Ettercap". Ettercap works as a mediator attack between user and the server. Ettercap is there for windows XP as well as different versions Linux, but it works more efficiently in 
1. Fedora
2. Gentoo
3. FreeBSD
4. NetBSD
5. OpenBSD

Overview:
1. DNS spoofing
2. ARP poising
3. DOS attack (PLUGIN)
4. SSL attack

This tool can be used for good purposes as well as for negative one. This tool is very useful for ethical hackers. Hacking in ethical environment needs the base of suspects MAC address, IP address and PORT address. Any combination of this three attributes forms a secure private Lan network. To break this network Security, Hacker needs to deal with this three attributes and play with them. But how to get these information?. Here comes the role of "ettercap". It is really a powerful tool.

ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) poising:
This technique sends a fake spoofed (ARP) messages in the discoverable LAN environment. This attack is used to get the MAC address and IP addresses. This technique is really help full to start getting the information. As it sends a spoofed (message) in the network, the systems active and discoverable in network will respond.

DNS spoofing:

In DNS spoofing you just need to edit a config file that defines which IP addresses to be resolved.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer):
It is a crystallographic protocol that provides communication security over the internet. Using ettercap we can break or enter into this layer.

Searching Host:

To start the attack or search of the suspect or destination node in the network select the host option and search the available host.
Setting Target:

After getting the resolved IP and MAC addresses, select number of targets.

How to start ettercap?

It is an open source tool to use. Download and install it from installation manager. After installing it open it and type in prompt "ettercap -G".

This tool is open source and can be used for good as well as wrong purposes. Better we use it for study purposes.

IPv6 can boost the performance of Mobile Networks


As we all know the next version of Internet protocol is IPv6 which is said that it made the life of the people more easier than before. IPv6 is a big step up from the Internet Protocol version 4. The IPv4 is the IP address, which is made of sequence of four sets of numbers. This IPv4 was used from long time ago. IP address is what allows communication between different devices. However due to the ever-growing usage of the internet, the number of sequence in IPv4 has been exhausted. The solution to overcome this problem was IPv6 which would use as a set of six numbers so to allocate more number of new addresses to the users. IPv6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
 
The mobile devices having IPv6 has many benefits over IPv4 for mobile networks and the devices connecting them. As we know that IPv6 has six set of numbers for addresses so there is almost endless IP addresses. Because of this, NAT (Network Address Translation) is not supported in IPv6. In fact, NAT is not being implemented at all in IPv6 networks. NAT is used to allow the multiple devices to share the same IP address. As this was necessary in IPv4, due to lack of IP addresses for everyone and everything. The condition had become so worse that no new address was left for anyone.
Now with IPv6 every single device has a unique and globally accessible IPv6 addresses. The fact of mobile network using IPv4 is that NAT increases the latency by a few milliseconds. This is because the network switch has to translate the IP addresses for routing packets between the public IP address used by the switch, and the internal IP address used by the mobile network. This is also in the case of home internet connections but the latency is quite low so it’s not so noticeable, but it is especially noticeable with mobile networks.
So with globally accessible unique address per device offers the quick point to point communication. Because the device doesn’t have to tell the NAT layer that it is still connected and waiting for the data. This also serves another purpose that the battery will not drain as much when actively accessing the mobile network to access resources on the internet. This is especially important when we use the services like Google Talk video chat or Skype. Because these types of services rely on direct peer to peer communication to work properly in real-time. When NAT is used to insert in between, it delays the service because of keep-alive packets and the requisite way along the multiple networks through NAT.
Of course, there are some pitfalls present. Every device may need a firewall with an intrusion detection system to protect the mobile devices from direct attacks as the devices would be directly accessible from the global network. The antivirus scanning of files downloads would become more important in using the IPv6 networks.
But the advantages of the IPv6 are too important to ignore the few pitfalls. This IPv6 can be used in many of the smartphones and tablets including iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III etc. Now usage of IPv6 is on full swing and we should get used to IPv6 and building services that operate well over IPv6 because as soon as we will have to completely switch to IPv6.

Connecting Mobile Broadband in Ubuntu


Hello readers,
I am demonstrating the procedure to connect Mobile Broadband in Ubuntu 11.10 or higher version (Debian Linux base Operating System).
In Windows, if we want to connect Internet through mobile connection, we required the PC Suite( for Nokia ) to establish net connection, whereas in Ubuntu, we doesn't required any kind of software and PC suites. In Ubuntu the mobile is used as a modem for wired connection, we can also connect or establish the net connection via wireless connection by using blue-tooth. If you want to use wireless connection for PC's then you need to fasten Blue-tooth device to your PC.

Following are the step by step produces to establish net connection through mobile(for wired connection) for Reliance network provider.

Step 1 → System → Preference → Network connection or you can select it by shortcut, just click on the network icon given to right corner of Desktop.
 
Ubuntu network connections

Step 2 :→ Select Mobile Broadband → add and Click Continue after Your mobile device is selected.


Step 3 →Select Your Country and click Continue.


Step 4 → Select Your Network Provider(e.g Airtel, Aircel, Reliance etc) and click Continue.


Step 5 → Select Your plan, if you doesn't get then select your AN as shown below then click continue.


Step 5 → Select Your plan, if you doesn't get then select your AN as shown below then click continue.


Step 7 → Now enter user name and Password “Internet” as default user name and password, And save it.


Step 8 →Now goto network connection and click on your connection and after that you net connection will connected, as shown below.


Step 9 → Now open your Web browser and you will see your net connection is working.


The procedure is applicable for : Airtel, Aircel, Reliance mobile broadbands.
